Wolffstrunk: A Modern, Genuine, and Unique Corporate Identity

Wolffstrunk, a unique corporate identity, is the brainchild of Karen Cuthbert. Inspired by the principle of "less is more," this design is characterized by graphic reduction and precision, reflecting the brand's modern, genuine, and unique identity. The design was awarded Silver in the A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2021.

Karen Cuthbert was inspired by the concept of minimalism both in the consumption of high-proof alcohol and in good design. The brand Wolffstrunk, which sells the finest fruit schnapps and fruit liqueurs, is presented in a modern and unique light, with a touch of confident humour. The design is a part of Cuthbert's bachelor thesis, which involved the creation of a new appearance and the development of a comprehensive corporate design system and communication concept for the brand.

The corporate design includes the design and concept of a composite mark, business documents, bottle labels, posters, postcards, and a brand book, as well as a short website animation. The design was primarily created using the Adobe Creative Suite and printed on high-quality paper. The brand book measures 128 mm x 175 mm and contains 132 pages.

The design mark, devoid of ornaments and excesses, is memorable and distinctively recognizable. Cuthbert believes that simplicity in design aids in memory retention. The graphically reduced figure of the wolf, coupled with the stylized shape of a drop, forms the basis for the visual appearance and the new design mark within the corporate design system of the brand Wolffstrunk. This reduced design mark is neat, clear, and modern, following the trend towards a simplified use of forms.

The project, which was Cuthbert's bachelor thesis, took about four months to complete. One of the main challenges was to create a movable design mark version, a wolf with a movable head. This feature adds a large portion of confident humour to the corporate design system and allows for a dynamic design of all variations of advertising material.

In conclusion, Wolffstrunk's corporate identity, designed by Karen Cuthbert, is a testament to the power of graphic reduction and precision. The design, which won the Silver A' Design Award, is a perfect blend of modernity, genuineness, and uniqueness, reflecting the brand's identity in the most sophisticated manner.
